HOW TO SHAVE & TRIM A GOATEE AT HOME THE RIGHT WAY
Hydrate your hair with hot water
The key to any great shave is hydrated hair, and a perfectly sculpted goatee is no different. Start by washing your face and beard with hot water opens the pores and makes hairs softer to shave with your razor.
Use a pre-shave cream or gel
Work your shave gel or cream into a rich lather and apply it to the areas of your face you want to shave, right up to the edges of your goatee. Don’t worry if you get some on areas you’re not shaving, it’s better to have too much shaving cream than too little.
Add a hot towel touch
To give yourself a true barbershop experience, soak a towel in water then pop it in the microwave for about 20 seconds. When it’s cool enough, press it to your face to add a little luxury to your goatee crafting routine.

Shape your edges
Using the precision trimmer on the back of your razor, define the edges of your goatee. The precision trimmer allows you to create crisp lines and keeps your edges tight. Josh uses SkinGuard for sensitive skin, but ProGlide could also be a great alternative. Both feature precision trimmers on the back.
Rinse and finish with cold water
Once you’ve got your look, you’ll want to rinse your face with warm water to remove any remaining shaving cream. Then, take things the opposite direction, and give yourself a quick splash of cold water to finish things up. Cold water helps close your pores, and refreshes your skin, while helping to prevent any irritation. There you go, now, you can keep your look barbershop fresh, even in between visits.
